We are often asked how successful friendsfirst is?

If you judge success by the number of marriages we've had then we are very successful. And if you add in the numbers of people making new friends (which is what some people join for) then it's even better

Churches to join the dating game

Club for Christians launched

By Diane Parkes

A Birmingham woman is hoping to bring a bit of love into people’s lives by setting up a new dating club exclusively for Christians.

Katharine Gray, of Harborne, has launched Friends First in the West Midlands and is already attracting interest from churches and church members.

The 31 year old is a member of St Johns Church, in Harborne, and decided to set up the club after many discussions with Christians of all ages who were trying to find like-minded partners.

For an annual joining fee people receive a directory of other members and can choose to contact them by phone or using a box number system.

Katharine said “There is a growing number of single Christians in the UK who are remaining single for longer because of work commitments and social lives which are not conducive to meeting sufficient Christians of the opposite sex outside of their own immediate contemporaries in their own churches.”

“The service is called Friends First because the philosophy behind it is that friendships are vitally important and at the heart of any good and meaningful relationship.”

Katharine added “There has been a lot of interest so far-we are receiving around ten phone calls a day fro people saying they feel there is a need for such a service. Our youngest member is around 26 and the oldest is in her sixties.”
