He did not find anyone suitable in his first year of membership but nevertheless persisted and eventually noticed a profile that fascinated him. Jill lived at least one hundred miles south but Alan felt they had plenty in common and persuaded her to meet up halfway. She had always thought that God would guide her when the person and the time was right and that is exactly what He did. They hit it off very quickly and Alan would travel down to Jill in Morpeth, stay in a b & b and travel back up the next day.
