MEMBERS IN WILTSHIRE

Those of us who live in the beautiful counties deep in the British countryside appreciate that sometimes they may well have to travel a little further a field to meet and make special friends.

We have a very happy story of two such people. Mathew lived in Wiltshire and Miriam lived in Somerset. Mathew was profoundly deaf due to meningitis as a child and consequently lacked in confidence and social skills. He felt he would never be able to find a partner who would love and understand him and resigned himself to a lonely existence once his mother died and he was left with no other family. Fortunately a friend knew about friendsfirst and persuaded Mathew to call. He explained his problems to Katharine and she helped him create his profile as the thought of completing an application form absolutely terrified him.

In the meantime, Miriam who lived in Somerset, was rather despondently looking through the profiles she had just received and spotted Mathew’s. Something drew her to it and she texted him; quite coincidentally Mathew was doing just the same thing. They arranged to meet at a halfway house and spent a very happy afternoon together walking and talking. It didn’t take long for them to realize that God had certainly helped them find each other and it was meant to be.
